Youth Homeless Prevention Report

National Runaway Safeline (NRS) partnered with the American Institutes for Research to conduct a study analyzing data from over 100,000 people who interacted with NRS’ crisis services staff from 2019 to 2023. The findings illuminate nuanced differences in the characteristics, experiences, and challenges of young people who are in crisis, at imminent risk of homelessness, or homeless, revealing valuable opportunities for prevention in both the practice and policy realms.Â
2024 Crisis services & Prevention Report
This report has two primary aims. First, we wanted to understand who contacted NRS for crisis intervention services, what their needs were, and what support they received.Â
Second, we investigated the occurrence of specific challenges in why contacts reached out to determine if the reason, for youth under the age of 18, could be characterized as an Adverse Child Experiences (ACE).
